Technical Details

This is a pearl finish, which means it contains translucent mica particles that reflect light differently than a standard metallic. This creates a depth that seems to change as you walk past the vehicle. The challenge with pearl is the flop. If the mica flakes don't lay down flat, the touched-up area will look like a different shade of red even if the paint is a perfect match. To avoid a blotchy look, you must apply the paint in thin, even layers rather than trying to fill a chip in one heavy go.

You can usually find your paint information on the Federal Certification tag located on the driver-side door jamb or inside a kitchen cabinet door. Before you spray or dab Forest-River Toreador Pearl (check for code JL), you need to shake it for 60 seconds. This is a heavy paint, and the pearl particles love to settle at the bottom of the container. Always test the color on the included card before you touch the vehicle. When applying, keep the container moving to ensure the mica distributes evenly and the flow remains consistent. If you are working in the sun, move the rig into the shade so the surface is cool to the touch, which gives the paint enough drying time to level out properly.
