Your Paint Color Profile

DUHS35830 - Quicksilver

The Look

Since your vehicle has been on the road since the turn of the millennium, it carries a color designed for the long haul. This shade is a workhorse silver that was born for utility and endurance. It provides a clean, professional appearance that excels at hiding road grime and dust, making it the ideal choice for fleet vehicles that don't have the luxury of a daily wash. It has a bright, industrial character that mimics the look of raw aluminum, giving your repair a sturdy, metallic presence.

Technical Details

This is a metallic finish, which means the secret is in the flakes. Metallic silvers are notorious for a phenomenon called mottling, where the tiny particles bunch together and create dark, cloudy spots. This happens if the paint stays wet for too long or goes on too heavy. Because the flakes need to stand up and catch the light evenly, you have to be careful about your layering. If you get impatient and rush the process, you'll end up with a finish that looks blotchy instead of like smooth metal.

Best Practices

Before you spray or dab Fleet Quicksilver (check for code DUHS35830), you need to shake it for 60 seconds. Those metallic flakes are heavy and settle at the bottom of the container; if you don't mix them thoroughly, your repair will look like a dull grey rather than a metallic silver. You can typically find your identification plate on the driver's side door jamb or tucked inside the glove box. Always test the color on the included card before touching your actual paint. When you start the repair in your garage or the shade, keep the container moving at a steady pace. Use several light layers rather than one heavy coat, and give each layer enough drying time so the flakes can set exactly where they land.

Find your Fleet paint code

Fleet is the catch all for individual color codes not associated with any brand or make, full of PPG, Axalta, Sherwin Williams, etc. If only a color code for something to be painted is available, the site can be checked; if it cannot be found, they can be notified and they will see if they can make the paint.

Will absolutely order from this company again.

After ordering touch-up paint from Lexus I was still waiting for it a month later. If they'd told me upfront it would take that long I wouldn't have ordered in the first place. Paint Scratch was recommended by a friend who restores cars. Easy ordering, fair price and fast shipping. The color match is great especially considering my car is a 2012. Will absolutely order from this company again. Reason I chose this business: Lexus collision repair and a local collision repair. Will use paint less dent removal and touch up chipped paint myself. Reason I chose this product: Spouse sideswiped passenger side of car while backing out of garage. Mostly plastic transfer from his wheel well trim but pressure creased and cracked the paint causing a bare strip 1/8 wide x 4" long below door handle. Scratches on door handle and a few small chips on both doors.

Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans

Used Paint Scratch metallic custom mixed spray cans paint on a hood panel with excellent coverage and texture over the surface. Metallic paint can be very unforgiving out of a spray can, sputtering pigmentation dots on the panel being sprayed and thus ruining the paint job. No such issues with Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint spray cans. Paint sprayed strong and evenly till the last drop of paint in the can. Shipping time was faster than expected. Reason I chose this business: Having tried other brands of custom mixed metallic paint with terrible results, sputtering pigmentation tint dots from the spray nozzle in spite of vigorously shaking of can prior to application and loss of propellant rendering the lower fifth of the can's paint useless, Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint sprays out beautifully and strong all the way to the last gram of paint in the can. Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans for automotive restoration. Thank you Paint Scratch.
