Technical Details

You are dealing with a solid finish. There are no metallic flakes or pearls mixed into this pigment. The benefit is that matching the color is more straightforward than with a shimmering metallic, but the risk is that a solid orange shows every ripple or sanding mark if your surface preparation is rough. Solid colors like this can fade into a chalky finish after years in the sun, so your fresh touch-up might look more vibrant than the rest of the panel at first.

Best Practices

Before you spray or dab Fleet Orange (Catalyzed Spray Only) (check for code PMS173), you need to shake the container for at least a full minute to mix the heavy orange pigments. You can find your paint code on a sticker inside the driver-side door jamb or on the inside of the glove box door. When you work in your garage or in the shade, test the color on the included card to check the match against your paint.
