Your Paint Color Profile

H39/PSB - Dark Gray Metallic (Cladding)

The Look

This color is the hallmark of the mid-90s two-tone aesthetic. Designed specifically for the lower body panels and plastic trim of the Eagle Talon and Vision, it provides a rugged, industrial contrast to the main body color. Because it lives on the lower cladding, your original paint has likely endured years of road salt and gravel. This dark metallic shade is excellent at hiding light road grime, but the finish can look dull if the clear coat has failed over the decades.

Technical Details

This is a true metallic finish, which means it contains tiny flakes designed to catch the light. These flakes are heavier than the pigment and will settle at the bottom of the container quickly. If you do not mix them thoroughly, the repair will look like a flat, muddy gray instead of a crisp metallic. There is also a risk of mottling-where the flakes clump together and create dark spots-so you must ensure the container stays agitated during the entire process to maintain a consistent flow.

Best Practices

Locate your paint ID tag on the driver's side door jamb or on the radiator support bar under the hood. Before you spray or dab Eagle Dark Gray Metallic (Cladding) (check for code H39/PSB), you need to shake it for 60 seconds. Test the color on the included card to verify the flake density matches your trim. When applying, keep the container moving to prevent the metallic particles from pooling in one spot. Since this is a basecoat, you will need to apply a clear coat once the drying time is complete to bring out the depth of the metal and protect the finish from future road debris in the garage or shade.

How to Find Your Eagle's Color Code

Where to find the Eagle paint color code: Determined directly by Eagle. When a color code is not present, the designated reference is the PPG or Dupont (Axalta) paint formula number. Practically, the source for the code is Eagle; lacking a code, identification proceeds by the PPG or Dupont (Axalta) formula number. This outlines that Eagle handles color codes, while PPG or Dupont (Axalta) formulas apply if a code is absent.

Will absolutely order from this company again.

After ordering touch-up paint from Lexus I was still waiting for it a month later. If they'd told me upfront it would take that long I wouldn't have ordered in the first place. Paint Scratch was recommended by a friend who restores cars. Easy ordering, fair price and fast shipping. The color match is great especially considering my car is a 2012. Will absolutely order from this company again. Reason I chose this business: Lexus collision repair and a local collision repair. Will use paint less dent removal and touch up chipped paint myself. Reason I chose this product: Spouse sideswiped passenger side of car while backing out of garage. Mostly plastic transfer from his wheel well trim but pressure creased and cracked the paint causing a bare strip 1/8 wide x 4" long below door handle. Scratches on door handle and a few small chips on both doors.

Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans

Used Paint Scratch metallic custom mixed spray cans paint on a hood panel with excellent coverage and texture over the surface. Metallic paint can be very unforgiving out of a spray can, sputtering pigmentation dots on the panel being sprayed and thus ruining the paint job. No such issues with Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint spray cans. Paint sprayed strong and evenly till the last drop of paint in the can. Shipping time was faster than expected. Reason I chose this business: Having tried other brands of custom mixed metallic paint with terrible results, sputtering pigmentation tint dots from the spray nozzle in spite of vigorously shaking of can prior to application and loss of propellant rendering the lower fifth of the can's paint useless, Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint sprays out beautifully and strong all the way to the last gram of paint in the can. Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans for automotive restoration. Thank you Paint Scratch.
