Your Paint Color Profile

AC-426 - Granada Red

The Look

Granada Red arrived in the early 1970s and stayed just long enough to define a very specific era for Citroen. It is a deep, saturated shade that looks more like a vintage wine than a fire engine. Because this color graced everything from the humble 2CV to the high-tech SM, it carries a sense of French sophistication that works on any body style. Since your car has likely been on the road for fifty years, the original finish has probably developed a unique character, so this fresh pigment will bring back the depth the factory intended in 1972.

Technical Details

This is a solid finish, which is a benefit for anyone working in a garage or under a shade tree. You do not have to worry about metallic flakes settling unevenly or creating dark patches. However, solid reds are known for "chalking" or fading into a pinkish hue if the car has spent years in the sun. This pigment is heavy and offers great coverage, but it requires a very clean surface to bond properly. Because there is no pearl or metal to hide mistakes, the smoothness of your application will determine how well the repair disappears into the surrounding panels.

Best Practices

You can find your color identity stamped on a small circular aluminum disc located on the firewall inside the engine bay. Before you spray or dab Citroen Granada Red (check for code AC-426), you need to shake it for 60 seconds. This ensures the heavy red pigments are fully mixed and not sitting at the bottom of the container. Test the color on the included card first to see how the hue reacts to the light. When you apply the paint, keep the container moving to avoid build-up and runs. Allow for plenty of drying time between light layers rather than trying to cover the spot in one heavy coat.

Find your Citroen paint code

Citroen paint color code is obtained by contacting Citroen to determine the color code. If no color code exists, the alternative is the PPG or Dupont (Axalta) paint formula number. In practice, Citroen supplies the code, or the PPG or Dupont (Axalta) formula number is used as the reference.

Will absolutely order from this company again.

After ordering touch-up paint from Lexus I was still waiting for it a month later. If they'd told me upfront it would take that long I wouldn't have ordered in the first place. Paint Scratch was recommended by a friend who restores cars. Easy ordering, fair price and fast shipping. The color match is great especially considering my car is a 2012. Will absolutely order from this company again. Reason I chose this business: Lexus collision repair and a local collision repair. Will use paint less dent removal and touch up chipped paint myself. Reason I chose this product: Spouse sideswiped passenger side of car while backing out of garage. Mostly plastic transfer from his wheel well trim but pressure creased and cracked the paint causing a bare strip 1/8 wide x 4" long below door handle. Scratches on door handle and a few small chips on both doors.

Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans

Used Paint Scratch metallic custom mixed spray cans paint on a hood panel with excellent coverage and texture over the surface. Metallic paint can be very unforgiving out of a spray can, sputtering pigmentation dots on the panel being sprayed and thus ruining the paint job. No such issues with Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint spray cans. Paint sprayed strong and evenly till the last drop of paint in the can. Shipping time was faster than expected. Reason I chose this business: Having tried other brands of custom mixed metallic paint with terrible results, sputtering pigmentation tint dots from the spray nozzle in spite of vigorously shaking of can prior to application and loss of propellant rendering the lower fifth of the can's paint useless, Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint sprays out beautifully and strong all the way to the last gram of paint in the can. Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans for automotive restoration. Thank you Paint Scratch.
