Your Paint Color Profile

P6X - Frozen Arctic Grey

The Look

This isn't your average commuter silver. It's cold. Industrial. Predatory. On a 5 Series or 7 Series, it looks like a battleship. On an M8, it looks like a stealth fighter. It has a distinct blue undertone that cuts through the grey, giving it a frozen, high-tech vibe that screams "Individual" tier. If you're driving an 8 Series in this shade, you aren't trying to blend in-you're trying to dominate the lane.

Technical Details

This is a matte metallic finish. That means you have fine metallic flakes suspended in a base that dries with a satin, non-reflective sheen. It is a high-stakes color. Because there is no high-gloss clearcoat to hide behind, any unevenness shows up immediately. If you apply it too heavily in one spot, the metallic flakes will clump and create dark patches or "tiger stripes." It's a gorgeous finish, but it demands respect and a steady hand.

Best Practices

Before you spray or dab BMW Frozen Arctic Grey (check for code P6X), you need to shake the container for at least two full minutes. The heavy metallic pigments in this matte mix settle quickly. Pop your hood and look at the strut tower or check the driver's side door jamb for the black ID sticker to confirm your code. Always test the color on the included card first to see how the matte finish settles. When applying, keep the container moving at a consistent speed to ensure the flakes lay down flat. Never try to buff or polish this paint-you'll ruin the matte effect and end up with an ugly shiny spot.

Find your BMW paint code

BMW Color Codes are usually found on the Color ID Tag in the driver-side door jamb or B-pillar area. The Color ID Tag is typically a sticker or plate; on some models and years it may be under the hood, sometimes at the back of the engine compartment near the firewall. BMW Color Codes are usually 3 digits, but can also appear as A52 or an older format like 354/7; common examples include 300, 475, A52, or 354/7.

Will absolutely order from this company again.

After ordering touch-up paint from Lexus I was still waiting for it a month later. If they'd told me upfront it would take that long I wouldn't have ordered in the first place. Paint Scratch was recommended by a friend who restores cars. Easy ordering, fair price and fast shipping. The color match is great especially considering my car is a 2012. Will absolutely order from this company again. Reason I chose this business: Lexus collision repair and a local collision repair. Will use paint less dent removal and touch up chipped paint myself. Reason I chose this product: Spouse sideswiped passenger side of car while backing out of garage. Mostly plastic transfer from his wheel well trim but pressure creased and cracked the paint causing a bare strip 1/8 wide x 4" long below door handle. Scratches on door handle and a few small chips on both doors.

Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans

Used Paint Scratch metallic custom mixed spray cans paint on a hood panel with excellent coverage and texture over the surface. Metallic paint can be very unforgiving out of a spray can, sputtering pigmentation dots on the panel being sprayed and thus ruining the paint job. No such issues with Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint spray cans. Paint sprayed strong and evenly till the last drop of paint in the can. Shipping time was faster than expected. Reason I chose this business: Having tried other brands of custom mixed metallic paint with terrible results, sputtering pigmentation tint dots from the spray nozzle in spite of vigorously shaking of can prior to application and loss of propellant rendering the lower fifth of the can's paint useless, Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint sprays out beautifully and strong all the way to the last gram of paint in the can. Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans for automotive restoration. Thank you Paint Scratch.
