I'm considering purchasing a used car. Low miles, mechanically it is perfect, going to be tough to beat the price. One big problem ... it has been "keyed" on the right side. The previous owner took some of the touch-up paint in the little bottle with the brush and tried to paint the scratch. I guess I appreciate the previous owner wanting to take care of the car, but it looks terrible. The car is metallic black. The touched-up area doesn't match real well, but the difference in texture is the big issue.
I'm trying to decide how to deal with this if I buy the car. I've talked to some local repair shops and they're estimating $2,000 to repaint the side of the car.
I don't need a show car finish, but I would like something more than all of these little "dabs" along the entire length of the car. Is there any way to repair this ? Some people have recommended sanding the area and then using a spray of matching color.
I would appreciate any comments. Thanks for your help ! |
