Your Paint Color Profile

833 - Trooper Blue

The Look

This shade captures the exact moment Isuzu transitioned from purely utilitarian workhorses to style-conscious icons. During the late eighties, this color draped everything from the boxy, adventure-ready Trooper to the sharp, Giugiaro-designed Impulse. It is a deep, honest blue that reflects the rugged reliability of the era. Because your I Mark or Pickup has likely spent decades facing the sun and the elements, the original finish might have a slight patina. When you apply new paint, remember that you are matching a color that has lived a full life on the road.

Technical Details

This color features a metallic finish, which gives it that classic eighties shimmer when the sun hits the panels. Metallic paints are different from solid colors because they contain tiny flakes that must stand up correctly to catch the light. If you apply the paint too heavily in one spot, these flakes will sink and cluster, creating dark, blotchy patches known as mottling. To avoid this, you should focus on light, even layers. This ensures the metallic particles distribute evenly across the surface rather than bunching up and ruining the uniform appearance of the repair.

Best Practices

You can find your identification plate on the firewall at the back of the engine bay, or occasionally on the driver-side door pillar. Before you spray or dab Isuzu Trooper Blue (check for code 833), you need to shake it for 60 seconds. This step is mandatory for metallic paints to ensure the flakes and pigments are fully integrated. Test the color on the included card to see how the metallic flow looks before moving to your vehicle. Whether you use a nozzle or a brush, keep the container moving at a steady speed to prevent pooling. Allow for plenty of drying time between layers to build a finish that looks like it came straight from the factory in 1989.

How to Find Your Isuzu's Color Code

Isuzu can be contacted to determine the color code. If there is no color code, the PPG or Dupont (Axalta) paint formula number may be requested. Common places to look are on the drivers door jamb, the trunk and under the hood.

Will absolutely order from this company again.

After ordering touch-up paint from Lexus I was still waiting for it a month later. If they'd told me upfront it would take that long I wouldn't have ordered in the first place. Paint Scratch was recommended by a friend who restores cars. Easy ordering, fair price and fast shipping. The color match is great especially considering my car is a 2012. Will absolutely order from this company again. Reason I chose this business: Lexus collision repair and a local collision repair. Will use paint less dent removal and touch up chipped paint myself. Reason I chose this product: Spouse sideswiped passenger side of car while backing out of garage. Mostly plastic transfer from his wheel well trim but pressure creased and cracked the paint causing a bare strip 1/8 wide x 4" long below door handle. Scratches on door handle and a few small chips on both doors.

Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans

Used Paint Scratch metallic custom mixed spray cans paint on a hood panel with excellent coverage and texture over the surface. Metallic paint can be very unforgiving out of a spray can, sputtering pigmentation dots on the panel being sprayed and thus ruining the paint job. No such issues with Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint spray cans. Paint sprayed strong and evenly till the last drop of paint in the can. Shipping time was faster than expected. Reason I chose this business: Having tried other brands of custom mixed metallic paint with terrible results, sputtering pigmentation tint dots from the spray nozzle in spite of vigorously shaking of can prior to application and loss of propellant rendering the lower fifth of the can's paint useless, Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint sprays out beautifully and strong all the way to the last gram of paint in the can. Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans for automotive restoration. Thank you Paint Scratch.
