Your Paint Color Profile

PBS - Deep Water Blue Pearl

The Look

Since you are driving a 2009 Raider, you already know your truck is a bit of a rare breed. This color reflects that unique history. It is a heavy, nautical blue that carries a serious weight to it when you see it in the shade of your garage. Once you get it out into the sun, the finish wakes up and reveals a deep, aquatic sparkle. It behaves more like a luxury finish than a standard truck paint, hiding light road grime well while rewarding a clean wash with a distinct, multi-layered glow.

Technical Details

This is a true pearl finish, which means there are microscopic mica flakes suspended in the paint. Before you spray or dab Mitsubishi Deep Water Blue Pearl (check for code PBS), you need to shake the container for at least a full minute. If those pearl particles stay settled at the bottom, your repair will look like a flat, dark smudge instead of a matching blue. Because the flakes reflect light at specific angles, the way you apply the paint determines how well it blends with the rest of the panel.

Best Practices

You can usually find your identification sticker on the driver's side door jamb or occasionally on the radiator support under the hood. When you are ready to begin, test the color on the included card to see how the metallic flake settles. Keep the container moving as you work to ensure an even distribution of the pearl. Apply the paint in thin, light layers rather than one heavy coat. This prevents the pigment from pooling and allows for a more consistent look. Give each layer enough drying time to become tacky before adding the next one.

How to Find Your Mitsubishi's Color Code

Mitsubishi paint codes are on a tag in the firewall area of the car, not on an exterior panel. The color code sits at the bottom mid-left part of that tag. Codes include letters, dashes, and numbers. The code R71 corresponds to Passion Red Clearcoat. R71 may be called Passion Red Clearcoat on some models. R71 may be called Red Clearcoat or Speed Red Clearcoat on others. Model marketing names can vary even for the same code.

Will absolutely order from this company again.

After ordering touch-up paint from Lexus I was still waiting for it a month later. If they'd told me upfront it would take that long I wouldn't have ordered in the first place. Paint Scratch was recommended by a friend who restores cars. Easy ordering, fair price and fast shipping. The color match is great especially considering my car is a 2012. Will absolutely order from this company again. Reason I chose this business: Lexus collision repair and a local collision repair. Will use paint less dent removal and touch up chipped paint myself. Reason I chose this product: Spouse sideswiped passenger side of car while backing out of garage. Mostly plastic transfer from his wheel well trim but pressure creased and cracked the paint causing a bare strip 1/8 wide x 4" long below door handle. Scratches on door handle and a few small chips on both doors.

Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans

Used Paint Scratch metallic custom mixed spray cans paint on a hood panel with excellent coverage and texture over the surface. Metallic paint can be very unforgiving out of a spray can, sputtering pigmentation dots on the panel being sprayed and thus ruining the paint job. No such issues with Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint spray cans. Paint sprayed strong and evenly till the last drop of paint in the can. Shipping time was faster than expected. Reason I chose this business: Having tried other brands of custom mixed metallic paint with terrible results, sputtering pigmentation tint dots from the spray nozzle in spite of vigorously shaking of can prior to application and loss of propellant rendering the lower fifth of the can's paint useless, Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint sprays out beautifully and strong all the way to the last gram of paint in the can. Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans for automotive restoration. Thank you Paint Scratch.
