Your Paint Color Profile

R-44M - Aruba Red Metallic

The Look

This color is a ghost from 1982. If you are holding a touch-up tool for your Accord, you are preserving a very specific moment in Honda history. It is a deep, sophisticated red that lacks the bright orange undertones found on modern sports cars. Because your Accord has survived four decades on the road, the original finish likely has some oxidation or fading. This means your new paint might look a bit richer than the weathered panels around it, but it captures that era of Japanese luxury perfectly.

Technical Details

This is a true metallic finish. Those tiny flakes are what give the car its depth, but they also represent your biggest challenge during the repair. If the flakes clump together, the spot will look darker or blotchy. You need the metallic particles to lay flat and even across the surface. If they stand on edge or gather in one spot, you will see stripes or dark clouds in the finish. This metallic behavior is why consistent movement is vital for a clean repair in your garage.

Best Practices

You will usually find your identification sticker on the driver side door jamb or tucked away on the metal radiator support under the hood. Before you spray or dab Honda Aruba Red Metallic (check for code R-44M), you need to shake the container vigorously for at least sixty seconds. This movement ensures the heavy metallic flakes mix properly with the red pigment. Always test the color on the included card to see how the flakes settle before you touch the car. When applying the paint, keep the container moving to avoid puddles and give the surface plenty of drying time between thin layers.

ensuring the right match

How to Find Your Honda's Color Code

Honda Color Codes are usually found on the Color ID Tag in the driver-side door jamb. It is typically a rectangular label, and the Color Code is usually 2 letters plus 3 digits with a suffix letter, such as NH731P, B92P, YR525M, or NH603P-1. Some Hondas also require the Factory Code for the closest match; check the Color ID Tag for a suffix like -1, -3, -4, or -15, or use the 11th digit of the VIN visible through the windshield on the driver-side dashboard.

Will absolutely order from this company again.

After ordering touch-up paint from Lexus I was still waiting for it a month later. If they'd told me upfront it would take that long I wouldn't have ordered in the first place. Paint Scratch was recommended by a friend who restores cars. Easy ordering, fair price and fast shipping. The color match is great especially considering my car is a 2012. Will absolutely order from this company again. Reason I chose this business: Lexus collision repair and a local collision repair. Will use paint less dent removal and touch up chipped paint myself. Reason I chose this product: Spouse sideswiped passenger side of car while backing out of garage. Mostly plastic transfer from his wheel well trim but pressure creased and cracked the paint causing a bare strip 1/8 wide x 4" long below door handle. Scratches on door handle and a few small chips on both doors.

Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans

Used Paint Scratch metallic custom mixed spray cans paint on a hood panel with excellent coverage and texture over the surface. Metallic paint can be very unforgiving out of a spray can, sputtering pigmentation dots on the panel being sprayed and thus ruining the paint job. No such issues with Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint spray cans. Paint sprayed strong and evenly till the last drop of paint in the can. Shipping time was faster than expected. Reason I chose this business: Having tried other brands of custom mixed metallic paint with terrible results, sputtering pigmentation tint dots from the spray nozzle in spite of vigorously shaking of can prior to application and loss of propellant rendering the lower fifth of the can's paint useless, Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint sprays out beautifully and strong all the way to the last gram of paint in the can. Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans for automotive restoration. Thank you Paint Scratch.
