Your Paint Color Profile

GK4/PK4 - Medium Suede Metallic

The Look

The Eagle Premier arrived in 1988 as a sophisticated European-inspired sedan, and this color served as its understated calling card. It is a warm, earthy champagne that felt expensive and modern at the time of the brand's launch. Since your Premier has been on the road for over thirty years, the original finish has likely shifted toward a lighter, drier tone due to UV exposure. This is a rare piece of automotive history, so your goal is to bridge the gap between that vintage 1980s depth and the current state of your car.

Technical Details

This is a metallic finish, which means it relies on tiny flakes to create its signature glow. Metallics are temperamental because the flakes want to sink or clump together. If you apply the paint too heavily, you will end up with dark, muddy patches or visible stripes known as mottling. This happens because the heavy metallic particles do not have enough time to lay flat before the paint begins to set. You need to build the color with light, even coats so the flakes can distribute themselves across the surface naturally.

Best Practices

You will usually find your paint code plate located on the passenger side inner fender well or mounted near the radiator support. Before you spray or dab Eagle Medium Suede Metallic (check for code GK4/PK4), you need to shake it for 60 seconds to fully integrate the metallic particles. Test the color on the included card to see how it compares to your weathered finish. Whether you are in your garage or a patch of shade, keep the container moving at all times to maintain a steady flow. Give the paint plenty of drying time between layers to prevent the color from sagging or darkening.

How to Find Your Eagle's Color Code

Where to find the Eagle paint color code: Determined directly by Eagle. When a color code is not present, the designated reference is the PPG or Dupont (Axalta) paint formula number. Practically, the source for the code is Eagle; lacking a code, identification proceeds by the PPG or Dupont (Axalta) formula number. This outlines that Eagle handles color codes, while PPG or Dupont (Axalta) formulas apply if a code is absent.

Will absolutely order from this company again.

After ordering touch-up paint from Lexus I was still waiting for it a month later. If they'd told me upfront it would take that long I wouldn't have ordered in the first place. Paint Scratch was recommended by a friend who restores cars. Easy ordering, fair price and fast shipping. The color match is great especially considering my car is a 2012. Will absolutely order from this company again. Reason I chose this business: Lexus collision repair and a local collision repair. Will use paint less dent removal and touch up chipped paint myself. Reason I chose this product: Spouse sideswiped passenger side of car while backing out of garage. Mostly plastic transfer from his wheel well trim but pressure creased and cracked the paint causing a bare strip 1/8 wide x 4" long below door handle. Scratches on door handle and a few small chips on both doors.

Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans

Used Paint Scratch metallic custom mixed spray cans paint on a hood panel with excellent coverage and texture over the surface. Metallic paint can be very unforgiving out of a spray can, sputtering pigmentation dots on the panel being sprayed and thus ruining the paint job. No such issues with Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint spray cans. Paint sprayed strong and evenly till the last drop of paint in the can. Shipping time was faster than expected. Reason I chose this business: Having tried other brands of custom mixed metallic paint with terrible results, sputtering pigmentation tint dots from the spray nozzle in spite of vigorously shaking of can prior to application and loss of propellant rendering the lower fifth of the can's paint useless, Paint Scratch custom mixed metallic paint sprays out beautifully and strong all the way to the last gram of paint in the can. Simply the best custom mixed paint in spray cans for automotive restoration. Thank you Paint Scratch.
