 I Had to purchase a new bumper cover for my A4 style Jetta. I know I can replace it myself but I don't know if I can paint it myself. the body shop wants $300 to paint the bumper cover. Can I do this myself with the spray can system, if so, how much paint do I need to buy? |

| Would you recomend using the paint scratch products I know they offer a kit with everything you need. Also, the bumper cover came primed, do I still need to purchase primer and re-prim, or do I just need to sand and paint? |

| Do you work for paintworld inc? You sound like a huge advocate. Anyway, you didn't answer my other question, do I still need to prime or can I just sand and start. The bumper cover is already primed, at least that what it said when I bought it. Let me know. And thanks for all the advice. |

I have seen pre-primed bumper covers for sale. It seems reasonable to that you can surface prep this bumper cover and go directly to your color and clear coats.

I haave limited experience and CPaintCars seems to know a lot about the "touchup" painting process, products, and competitiion. My one order last year with paintscratch.com was great - the product, delivery, and invoicing were all first class. That's why I am back onsite for another order (but I am looking at paintworld.com as CPaintCars suggests) |

By the way....they do have flexible primer.....what they offer is to add a "flex additive" to the basecoat color or "rubberized primer".� If you use ChromaBase basecoat with a flexible primer on the bare plastic there is no need to add flex to the base color or clear.� Either way works on plastic parts.
As for the prep of the bumper cover....sand, wash, paint, clear.....this is the most common way if it is already primed... although there are others. |

| Paint then attach. Your painting, sanding, and polishing will all go much easier if it is off of the car. You want to have free access to all the different angles and curves on the bumper. Just take good care when mounting it up! |

| Sorry. I just meant to be careful not to scratch it when you attach it to the car. In being careful, I have someone help me so the bumper cover is always in someone's hands while I align and fit it. I also make sure that I have cleared the area of tools and anything else that might scratch it . Did you end up buying from paintscratch.com? |

| Actually I haven't ordered yet. But I will end up buying for paintscratch because I can't find my color code anywhere else. But I will be ordering soon. I like the fact that I can buy a kit and have everything that I need. |

Tori, we do not force you to buy anything from our website as CPaintCars suggests. I also looked at paintworldinc.com for comparison on pricing and even though their initial prices were lower, when you finally do check out, they hit you with quite a big handling charge and of course shipping so it really wasn't that much different as far as pricing.
We have put tremendous time and energy in our website and literally have hundreds of thousands of satisfied users (see our customer comments at:

and these are just a small fraction of what we have received over the years. Our paint store has been in business for 55 years so we are doing something right!
Nearly all of our dissatisfied customers are individuals who did not read the instructions. Also, we do not sell urethane paints. They are very hazardous and should only be sprayed in a professional paint booth. Let me know if you have further questions. |
