Poor Coverage Problem (currently 1 views) |

Hi,
The website indicates that two coats of spray should be enough, but the can I just received gave much poorer coverage. I ended up using the whole can on a rather small area, making a total of some 25 coats of paint, which only about half-covered the primer spots in that area. Is this normal for some types of paint? I made sure the can was thoroughly shaken and let the coats dry in between, but I thought it would cover better than that. The color is a metallic green. I think the color will match pretty well when I'm done, but I just wanted to make sure this was normal. The thinness of the paint actually made it pretty easy to blend. I already ordered a replacement can so I can finish the job.
Thanks! |

Hi,
I actually got my second replacement can today, and it works great; nothing like the first one. It covers in the first coat what the entire can (and 25 coats) could not before. Since the first can seems defective, can I get a refund for one can of basecoat? |

You would have to send it back to us and we would need to take a look at it to see what the problem is. Did you ever fill out a troulble ticket on our site? This should have been the first step. |

I got a trouble ticket but either way I still needed more paint to finish the job, as the first can didn't hardly cover at all. I wasn't sure there was a result of a defect until I got the second can and it covered really well... nothing like the first. The support email I got was just a kurt response, a refusal to credit and delivery of a third can I now have no need for. The whole reason I ordered a second can was because the first can didn't work right... I even included in the order a note stating such as requesting a credit if the coverage issue wasn't normal, but I never got a response from that. In the big picture $24 isn't a lot of money, but I'm not satisfied at all by this service or policy. |

I just received my first spray can of a light yellow, and seem to have the same problem. The paint has very little pigment in it. In spite of at least 5 minutes of shaking the can before painting, 6 coats on the little sample card is still not enough to provide good coverage. A normal spray can would provide decent coverage after 2 coats. I was wondering if this was the usual for automotive spray paint, but now it sounds like poor quality control! |

Did you fill out a trouble ticket on the PaintScratch site? |

Regarding the coverage problem I posted above (sorry about the double post): I returned the painted sample card with description of problem and received a replacement can within 2 weeks. The new can is fine -- the coverage seems to be perfectly normal. And as before, the color is right on. Thanks! |

Because each can is custom made, sometimes they are not filled correctly. As soon as we know, we send out a replacement can ASAP. |
