PaintScratch Information
Ouch!
Your beautiful vehicle has just been scratched, keyed, scraped, bumped and it feels lousy! Not
only is your car damaged, but the area can begin to rust. Here comes
PaintScratch.com to the rescue! Just order a paint pen, bottle of touch-up paint
or spray can to
fix the problem.
PaintScratch touch-up paint comes in several sizes, including a 1/2 oz.
paint pen, 1 and 2 oz. brush cap bottle, 12.5 spray can and larger sizes.
Paint Quality
For all vehicles with basecoat/clearcoat paint, we use OEM paint which is a much improved version of the old style
lacquer paint. This product applies like lacquer and is excellent for
touch-up repairs. For older formulas, often the only formula available is
in lacquer or single stage enamel. All colors are described by a color
code found on your vehicle. See the section Finding
your color code for more information.
Shipping/Handling Costs and
Information
When Will I Recieve My Order?
Every order must be custom made. This involves researching the
formula, making the paint from the formula, filling, testing,
packaging and shipping. Orders from the United States will typically take
from 3-10 days to arrive at your doorstep. Foreign orders can sometimes
take up to two months due to shipping and customs. This is in extreme
cases as many orders arrive overseas in two weeks time. Please be patient!
Spray cans, pints, quarts and gallons are
shipped via UPS. UPS provides tracking information. Sorry, we do not ship COD.
Paint pens and brush cap bottles are shipped via the USPS. USPS
does not provide tracking information as orders are shipped first class
mail.
The first container of paint ordered is $4.95 ($8.95 spray cans) for shipping/handling.
Additional containers of paint are charged $1.00 shipping each. Extra
items ordered (such as sandpaper, rubbing compound, etc.) adds an
additional $1.00 per item except when ordered on the PaintScratch
Store where each item has it's own shipping charge.
International
orders are charged an additional $5.00. Spray cans are shipped via UPS under ORMD regulations
and can take up to 10 days to deliver. Spray cans can only be shipped to the lower 48 United States due to
shipping regulations.
Touch up bottle and paint pen paint orders are shipped via the USPS under their ORMD
regulations for hazardous materials. All applicable USPS 343 requirements
are met. Pints, Quarts and Gallons paint orders are shipped via UPS hazardous material
shipping and can take up to an extra week.
Next Day or Air Service
We cannot offer
next day or 2nd day service on paint due to federal shipping regulations.
All paint must be shipped by ground.
Color Code
You will need to find the color code for your vehicle. This code describes
your color and is found on the color identification plate on all vehicles.
When you select your year, make and model, a screen will come up with all
the colors and color codes identified for your vehicle. At the top of the
page, a link will be provided to the appropriate color-code diagram
showing you the exact location of your color identification plate.
Sometimes these codes can be difficult to find and the color-code diagram
will have more information to help you. See the section Finding
your color code for more information.
Make sure you take the time to find your color code. For
example, many cars will not only have two very similar looking reds, but
they will both be called say "Dark Garnet Red Metallic
Clearcoat." They will look identical on the screen, but it means
these paints have two slightly different formulas, so the color code on
your car will identify the correct paint.
Screen Colors
The colors shown for each year, make and model are approximations of the
color and should not be used to order, unless you happen to have the only
orange shown. As long as you find your color code, don't worry if the
screen color shown seems way off. Metallic colors are VERY difficult to
show on screen. The color code on your car absolutely identifies the
correct color and is much more reliable than trying to guess which of the
eight reds shown is yours! We recommend printing the page of colors shown
for your car and taking this out to the vehicle. The page of colors will
include the paint code and if you have a color printer, it will print a
reasonable approximation of the color. You should also print out the
color-code diagram for your vehicle.
Repainted Vehicles
As long as your car was painted the original color, you should have no
problems. Most collision repair shops will repair your vehicle with the
original paint. However, if you locate your color code and find the
color is completely different from what is shown on the screen, your
entire car was probably repainted and you won't be able to order touch-up
paint using this website.
