Hi there,
I had a lot of tiny little spots & chips on the hood of my car from stones, so after finding out about your website I purchased the paint pen set & rubbing compound. I have followed everything to the T but now have a lot of little "bumps" on my hood after applying the clearcoat...the basecoat went on fine but it seems the clearcoat must have been a little thicker. What is the best thing I can do to get these down...use the rubbing compound?

Thanks in advance for your assistance

Hi again...can anyone answer my question? Will rubbing compound help to get rid of these little "bumps"? Will 1500 grit sandpaper help or will this damage my existing coat? Also, do you sell polishing compound...I cannot seem to find it anywhere on your site?

By the way, I tried some rubbing compound on:
1. A small area where I had applied basecoat and then clearcoat. The compound was applied on top of the clearcoat...it didn't do too much except make the area around it very hazy and looked like it left behind some very fine scratches. I had applied it with an old t-shirt. The only way I could get the surface shiny again was to use a scratch remover. What did I do wrong...do I need to apply more pressure to the "bump" with the rubbing compound?

2. A small area where I had just applied basecoat. The rubbing compound seemd to remove most of the basecoat. I applied it about 3 days after I had put the basecoat on. After using the rubbing compound, It also left a slightly black edge on one side of the area I was repairing. Why is this?
I reapplied basecoat and will have to try again tonight with the rubbing compound to smooth it out.

Another question. What I am noticing is that after applying the basecoat, the first day or so afterwards the color looks fine...but then about 4 days to a week later the color looks a lot darker than normal. Is this possibly because I am waiting too long before applying clearcoat? I thought I would wait a few days instead of just a few hours because it has been raining so much on this side.

What type of rubbing compound were you using? Ours or another brand?

If you really want a smooth finish, take the car to a detail shop with a power buffer. Make sure they know what they are doing with the power buffer, but this works quite well to smooth everything. The alternative is lots of elbow grease on each bump. Let me know how it works for you.
